Community Nextdoor

Why an intentional community can be your best neighbor

Breaking down fences: Two Acre Wood (Sebastopol, CA)

When Two Acre Wood Cohousing developed a 12-unit neighborhood near downtown small-town Sebastopol, CA, some neighbors were resentful at the loss of open space. Yet now the same neighbors have cut holes in the fence so that kids can get to the community for playdates without driving. For watchful eyes without paying for daycare. For concerned parents keeping an eye out for one another and being supportive. Some neighbors have even used the community's Common House for funerals and other events.
